Climb aboard the authentic La Crosse Queen paddle wheeler for 90 minutes of scenic delight on the upper Mississippi River! As the La Crosse Queen paddles the main channel of the river your guide will explain facts and trivia of the historical and present day river, along with local points of interest. Watch for eagles and other wildlife as we cruise past steep bluffs adjacent to the Great River Road -- designated by AAA as one of the most scenic areas in America! At Lock & Dam No.7 at Dresbach, MN, the locking process will be explained. The La Crosse Queen is a modern-day replica of the Grand River boats that plied the Mississippi River in the late 19th Century. She is one of the few authentic Mississippi River paddlewheel river boats still in operation in the country today. In keeping with early traditions, she was built with stern wheels that are her only means of propulsion. The La Crosse Queen has a split stern wheel and each is run by a twin diesel engine that powers hydraulic motors which turn the paddles. This is in contrast to most Mississippi River paddle wheelers in operation today that have a "freewheeling" paddlewheel at the stern of the boat for visual effect, but have traditional screw-type engines hidden for their real means of propulsion.

Niagara Cave is one of the most fascinating and unique geological attractions in the United States and is rated one of the top ten in the United States. Over 400 weddings have been performed in the Niagara Cave wedding chapel. During the one-hour guided tour, visitors will witness a waterfall, nearly 60 feet high, stalactites both delicate and massive, calcite flowstone, and fossils that have been dated to over 400 million years old.
NOTE: Niagara Cave is a constant 48 degrees year round, so a light jacket or sweatshirt is suggested. Walking shoes are recommended.
After or before your tour, you may want to try your luck mining for real gemstones or genuine fossils. Just purchase a bag of mining rough from the gift shop and take it to the sluice outside. Pour your rough into the screened trays provided and watch for gemstones or fossils to appear before your eyes. Use the identification board to see what you’ve found or ask at the counter.
